Whether you did a part-time or full-time HND does not matter. What matters is whether you got an upper credit in your HND. A few institutions will accept you directly into a pre-masters in Canada. Building/construction is not very popular at pre-masters, so you may need to consider a broader programme to increase your chances of admission. These universities might accept an HND for pre-masters:

    1. Fairleigh Dickinson University, Vancouver
    2. University of Manitoba
    3. Emily Carr University of Art and Design

If you have relevant work experience, include it on your application personal statement. It will increase your chance of admission.

The PTDF scholarship is advertised annually on their website. I just want to mention that PTDF scholarship eligibility is not restricted to a particular state of origin. Anyone from Nigeria can apply so long as certain requirements are met such as studying a course related to oil & gas, etc. You can see the PTDF scholarship eligibility and requirements on our site.

To find out more about the next scholarship call, please visit their website. Their contact details are on their homepage.

Each university that accepts WAEC results will determine whether they will accept a result that is ten years old. Please read this discussion thread to find out more information.

OND is accepted in the UK and it is equivalent to a one-year full-time undergraduate degree study. A UK undergraduate degree is usually three years of full-time study.

If you have an OND, you will be able to enrol for an undergraduate degree and begin from year 2 and complete your degree in two years only, instead of three years.

You can find out more information about OND and how it translates to a degree.

For scholarship purposes, an OND is not likely to help you gain a master’s scholarship by itself. However, you can apply for an undergraduate degree scholarship with your OND. In that case, you will need to complete a total of three years of the undergraduate course.

In your scholarship application, make sure you mention that you possess an OND. Many university scholarship boards will appreciate that you have some vocational experience which you have gained from overseas.

The universities that accept WAEC and NECO results will also accept a ‘C’ credit in English.

If you are using an older WAEC qualification, reach out to the university whether they will accept it.

Also, you can apply to ECTTIS to check whether your WAEC is comparable to the UK GCSE qualification. However, it costs a small fee to do this comparison. Visit the ECTTIS website if you are interested in ‘converting’ your WAEC to UK GCSE.

Two sittings might be acceptable, but note the following:

    1. They will usually check that your names are exactly the same on each certificate. If it isn’t e.g., because of marriage, then you will need to also submit your marriage certificate/affidavit as evidence of name change.
    2. Also, the universities that accept two WAEC/NECO certificates will most likely expect both qualifications to have been awarded in the same year or the year after. If both dates of the certificates are too far apart e.g., 2011 and 2021, the oldest one may be rejected.

Nonetheless, you should check with the university you are applying to whether they will accept two certificates from different sittings and under what conditions they will be accepted.

9 June 2022 at 6:26 pm in reply to: TETFUND Scholarship

TETFUND scholarship is currently not available to staff who teach at private universities. However, this could change in future because there have been some discussions about it recently between the TETFUND Board and the private sector to expand the scholarship to private universities.
